Local senior receives Children of Associates Premier Scholarship

Savannah High School student Senior Taylor Goodly won a $10,000 scholarship from H&R Block’s Children of Associates Premier Scholarship by demonstrating innovative ways of improving our local community. Through her entrepreneurial-leadership approach to drive change beyond academics, she has created impactful events throughout the community, giving her recognition on a national level.

Goodly is a student leader and member of the Chatham County Youth Commission who has represented the Savannah-Chatham County community with her ability to connect people in her local area. Goodly helped start Family Engagement Day at Daffin Park, a public school event with food trucks, music, reading activities, games, and special guests. At this event, the top three schools with the most parent attendees received prizes. In addition, Goodly hosted a mental health awareness event that honored Martin Luther King, Jr.

The 2021 winners represent high-achieving high school students that have dedicated themselves to making their communities better and pursuing projects as part of H&R Block’s Make Every Block Better community impact platform. All 2021 applicants shared how they give back and address unmet needs in their communities.

Goodly and fifteen other high-achieving high school students won from across the U.S. won the 2021 CAPS scholarship award, including Kyle Cheng, Eva De La Llave, Khulan Erdenedalai, Bridger Gouchenour, Camryn Houston, Shaun Karakkattu, Lavanya Maruthapandian, Damian Richter, Cody Shiffman, Madeline Streicher, Raghav Suryanarayanan, Samantha Szanti, Nina Anne Trousdale, Emilie Tueting.

“It’s rewarding to be able to recognize 15 incredible, young change-agents and leaders who are making their blocks better across the country. This year’s recipients demonstrated an entrepreneurial approach towards improving their communities in ways that align with H&R Block’s purpose to provide help and inspire confidence in clients and communities everywhere,” said H&R Block CEO Jeff Jones.

Over the past ten years, H&R Block has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to high school level students. Students interested in the 2022 CAPS program should apply in the fall of 2021.
