The amazing Regina Belle will sing Nov. 19 as part of Savannah State University’s 2010 Homecoming celebration.
She’ll be backed by Savannah’s own Teddy Adams Sextet in the King–Frazier Student Center’s Savannah Room. Tickets are $20 for SSU students, $35 alumni, faculty, staff and military; $40 for the general public. That’s in advance – add $5 to each ticket price if purchased the day of the concert.
Savannah State’s celebration also includes a Nov. 21 gospel concert with Yolanda Adams – named by Billboard in 2009 as the gospel artist of the decade.
The 5 p.m. show will be hosted by comedian Marcus D. Wiley of the Yolanda Adams Morning Show. The SSU Wesleyan Gospel Choir will also perform.
Tickets are $25 and $30 for SSU students, and $35 and $40 for the general public.
There’s a full week of Homecoming activities, including the parade downtown (Nov. 20) and a free show from Savannah’s Nickel Bag of Funk (Nov. 19 at the Felix–Alexis Circle).

Ludacris @ GSU
Before he was the hip hop star called Ludacris, Chris Bridges was a student at Georgia Southern University, studying music management.
In fact, he made the album Incognegro during his time in Statesboro – it was later re–tooled and released on a major label as Back For the First Time.
This platinum–selling rapper returns to his alma mater Nov. 12, for a concert at J.I. Clements Stadium. Tickets, on sale now at gsustore.com, are $20 GSU students, $30 faculty and staff, and $35 general public.
Four Ludacris albums – Chicken–n–Beer, The Red Light District, Release Therapy and Battle of the Sexes – went to No. 1 on the Billboard chart.
The Grammy winner is also a philanthropist, a label mogul, and an actor of considerable renown.
Ludacris had a memorable role in the drama Crash (2004) and played a version of himself in the impressive Hustle and Flow the following year.
His other films include 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fred Claus, Max Payne, Gamer and Repo Men.
