The Chardonnay grape might arguably be the most popular white wine grape in the United States, but venture south of the border and the white wine grape of choice becomes […]
Tim Rutherford
Tim Rutherford grew up in rural Kentucky – then left home to pursue more than three decades as a photojournalist and newsman. A ground-breaking meal in New Orleans in 1979 set him on a path exploring food and wine. Six years ago he changed career paths – now spending his time writing about the people and places that make food and wine special. In his spare time, he teaches cooking and consults in the food and beverage industry on food safety (ProActive Control Systems), menu development and event marketing. He is a columnist for Connect Savannah, The Bluffton Sun and contributes regularly to magazines ranging from Food Network magazine to Delta Sky. His weekly e-mail newsletter, Savannahfoodie Tastings, circulates weekly to nearly 5,000 subscribers. Tim is available as an after-dinner speaker, cooking class demonstrator or to simply help with your next wine pairing.

Young (wine) guns

Good mall eatin’
Dillinger’s Steaks and Seafood brings a mom–and–pop feel to what is typically a venue overrun by hyper–themed restaurants – the mall. In this case, Oglethorpe Mall. Those of you with […]
Scorsone’s secret
A couple of times a year, I taste wines that stand above the rest. It happened two weeks ago when I tasted wines from Sonoma County–based Adobe Road Winery, owned […]
Best breakfasts in town
One inquiry I field frequently concerns where to eat breakfast downtown – outside of a hotel. The choices used to be pretty limited, but have grown substantially in the past […]
Still your dad’s beer
When we last talked, I gave you the head’s up on some of my favorite Irish and Irish–style beers. But, as some of my learned colleagues pointed out, St. Pat’s […]
Warm and fuzzy Goose Feathers
Man, time flies. I’ve been coming and going from Goose Feathers Bakery and Cafe since landing in Savannah in 1998. It was convenient to the now-moved Savannah Morning News office […]
