Palin speaks in Savannah

Rally for Chambliss packs 'em in

Palin accepts applause

FORMER VICE PRESIDENTIAL candidate Sarah Palin spoke briefly at a rally at the Civic Center Monday to turn out the vote for Sen. Saxby Chambliss, facing an unexpected runoff with Democratic challenger Jim Martin.

Thousands of Savannahians waited hours for her appearance, determined to get a good spot (though one eyewitness report says the crowd was padded by school children bussed in).

Palin had the headline spot for herself, with the candidate himself speaking before her. Also attending were Gov. Sonny Perdue, Rep. Jack Kingston, and Georgia's other senator, Johnny Isakson.

Our own Brad Foley was on the spot, and took these photos.
