Live Oak Public Libraries cardholders in Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty Counties now have access to a new benefit. The library system has partnered with Coastal Heritage Society to offer a Family Pass that can be checked out for free admission to five of the society’s historic sites and museums.

The Coastal Heritage Society Family Pass can be checked out by any library cardholder and is valid for up to eight people per visit. The pass allows free admission to the Savannah History Museum, Savannah Children’s Museum, Georgia State Railroad Museum, Old Fort Jackson, and Pin Point Heritage Museum. Each of Live Oak Public Libraries' locations has one pass available, and the pass is valid for seven days.

The Coastal Heritage Society museums and sites offer engaging experiences that showcase the history and culture of Savannah and coastal Georgia. The Savannah History Museum highlights the city’s rich history, while the Savannah Children’s Museum offers open-air exhibits that invite children to explore and learn through play. The Georgia State Railroad Museum, housed in the Central of Georgia Railway Repair Shops Complex, is a National Historic Landmark featuring an operational turntable and daily guided programming. Old Fort Jackson, also a National Historic Landmark, is located along the Savannah River and offers daily cannon firings and interactive programs. The Pin Point Heritage Museum is located on the banks of the Moon River in southside Savannah and celebrates the Gullah/Geechee culture and community.

"We are so excited to collaborate with Live Oak Public Libraries through the Passport Membership Program,” says Nora Fleming Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Coastal Heritage Society. “We look forward to welcoming the public to visit our engaging and educational historic sites as a family.”

The Coastal Heritage Society Family Pass is the latest addition to Live Oak Public Libraries’ Passport Membership Program, which offers free passes to various cultural centers across the state, including Georgia State Parks and Telfair Museums.

“We are pleased to announce this partnership program with Coastal Heritage Society,” said Lola Shelton-Council, Library Executive Director. “The collaboration gives our community new opportunities to learn firsthand about the history and culture of Savannah and coastal Georgia, as these museums and sites bring the past to life for all ages.”
