200 Club selling Boston Butts to benefit first responder families

With four weeks to go before the July 4 holiday, the 200 Club is now holding its semi-annual Boston Butt sale to benefit the families of fallen first responders. The nonprofit organization is expanding the sale this year to reach Chatham, Bulloch, and Bryan County, with placed orders available for pick-up in Savannah, Statesboro, Richmond Hill, and Pembroke. Orders are now open through June 28, with pickup ranging from Thursday, June 29 to Friday, June 30.

“Our Boston Butt sale is such a great event that our supporters look forward to each year, and we are excited to work with Chatham, Bryan, and Bulloch County this year. We are so thankful for the financial support this event provides as it directly helps us continue in our mission to provide for our fallen heroes’ families,” said 200 Club President and CEO Mark Dana. “We want to pass along a special thank you to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, Statesboro Fire Department, and Bryan County Sheriff’s Office for hosting our pick-ups, just in time for the community to enjoy a Boston butt over the 4th of July holiday.”

SCAD Museum of Art receives $100K from Hyundai’s Genesis Inspiration Foundation

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) has received a generous donation from the Genesis Inspiration Foundation to expand the SCAD Museum of Art’s educational programming for kindergarten through twelfth grade students. Genesis Inspiration Foundation Executive Director John Guastaferro presented a $100K check to SCAD Vice President for Giving Audra Pittman at the museum on Turner Boulevard.

This gift will further SCAD Museum of Art’s educational mission by creating new programming to enhance the already established lineup. This will include funding for additional school field trips, increasing the number of art educators who will lead dynamic exhibition tours, and creation of additional activities for young visitors to participate in.

“We applaud the Genesis Inspiration Foundation for their commitment to connecting young people to the transformative power of the arts.  This generous gift helps the university fulfill its mission to prepare talented students for creative professions through engaged teaching and learning in a positively oriented university environment,“ said Pittman. “We are delighted to expand our outreach to younger students. Our museum encourages curiosity and can expand a child’s imagination which is necessary for them to become lifelong learners.”

YMCA of Coastal Georgia chooses Suzanne Duggan as Annual Campaign Director

The YMCA of Coastal Georgia, which operates 11 facilities across eight coastal Georgia counties, has selected Suzanne Duggan for the post of annual campaign director. In that role, her primary responsibility will be managing the annual Community Impact Campaign, the annual fundraising drive which makes so many of the YMCA’s programs possible. This year’s goal is $662,000 for a campaign that will run through Dec. 31, 2023.

Since her arrival in April, Duggan has already brought innovation to this year’s campaign, creating the Founder’s Circle as a premium donor recognition program that salutes the Y’s long history in the area.

“As a newcomer, I was reading about the historical partnership that the Y has had with Savannah, and was wowed by the fact that our doors opened here in 1855, making us the 13th oldest Y in the country. This legacy is something to not only be proud of, but to celebrate, so we created the Founder’s Circle to honor that legacy and invited members of the community to lead with a gift of $1,855, which will fuel the YMCA mission programs in the community,” Duggan said.

YMCA members, supporters and the general public can donate to the YMCA’s campaign via its website, ymcaofcoastalga.org where they will find a clickable link marked “GIVE” or by going to YMCAofCoastalGA.org/Donate. Duggan also invites donors to contact her personally at her YMCA office at 6400 Habersham St., Ste. A, in Savannah, (912) 358-2651.
