As of Monday, March 11, 2024, Dr. Kathy Love is no longer the president of Savannah Technical College. Officials for the Technical College System of Georgia would not comment on the reason for Dr. Love’s departure. Dr. Ray Perren, Deputy Commissioner for Technical Education, provided Connect Savannah with a copy of the email sent to Savannah Technical College staff members on Tuesday morning.
The email stated:
“I am writing to you this morning to notify you that Dr. Kathy Love is no longer serving as President of Savannah Technical College. We thank Dr. Love for her many years of service here at Savannah Tech and across the Technical College System of Georgia. In the coming days, Commissioner (Greg) Dozier will announce the appointment of an interim President to lead Savannah Tech. In the meantime, I have been assigned to work from Savannah Tech to assist you as the college goes through this transition. Please feel free to reach out to me if I can provide you with any assistance over the coming days.”
On Wednesday, Commissioner Greg Dozier sent another email to Savannah Technical College staff, this time announcing Dr. Ryan Foley as Interim President.
"Thank you to the Savannah Tech community for your commitment to the college which continues to play a vital role in educating students and building a skilled workforce for the region. Together, we will continue to build on the legacy of Savannah Technical College, ensuring a bright and prosperous future for all. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Ryan Foley in his new role of Interim President of Savannah Technical College.”
Foley comes to Savannah from Ogeechee Technical College where he most recently served as Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
