After a comprehensive search, the United Way of the Coastal Empire announced the appointment of Kimberly Waller last week as the next President and CEO. Her role becomes effective on June 3, 2024.

In her most recent role as a Presidential Appointee in the Biden Administration, Waller led a federal bureau focused on significant initiatives supporting children, youth, families, and communities within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Waller’s extensive career spans a variety of roles, from serving as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Mayor of the District of Columbia in the city’s Interagency Council on Homelessness to leading policy initiatives as an attorney with a legal aid non-profit aimed at ensuring that every child has a stable family, good health, and a quality education.

She began her career in the United States Senate, advising on health and human services initiatives, and has since continued her commitment to working alongside communities to achieve positive and sustainable change.

“Kimberly Waller is an exceptional leader whose career has been dedicated to the betterment of communities and the advancement of social and economic well-being,” says Ken Rabitsch, chair of United Way of the Coastal Empire Board of Directors. “Her values, vision, and vast experience align seamlessly with the mission and aspirations of our organization, and we’re confident she will keep the positive momentum going.”

Waller holds a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in social work from the same university.

Waller has seen firsthand the transformative work United Way of the Coastal Empire is making in our region. She believes we achieve more together and looks forward to working with our community to continue the organization’s commitment to improving lives by leveraging the caring power of our community.

During this leadership transition, the organization’s Chief Financial and Operating Officer, Mandy Parsons is serving as the Interim President and CEO.
