Endless Pasta-bilities: Celebrate National Noodle Month at these local eateries

Updated March 9, 2023 at 9:22 a.m.

March is a lot of things, the start of spring, the heart of Savannah’s green season and Women’s History Month, to name a few. It also happens to be National Noodle Month. Each year, March is set aside to celebrate the diverse and delicious noodle in all of its fantastic forms and appetizing applications. Whether you like them tossed in sauce, served cold in a salad or swimming in a steamy soup with a flavorful amalgamation of ingredients, there’s really no wrong way to enjoy noodles. Here in Savannah, we are fortunate to have several eateries that serve up tasty noodle dishes. While our list is in no way exhaustive, here are a few places around town where you can slurp up some satisfying noodles.

Boomy’s

Boomy’s is a local bar and restaurant near City Market that serves up traditional Thai cuisine well into the night. With the kitchen open til 2 a.m., Boomy’s is a popular place to go to round out a night spent bar hopping. They offer pho noodles with your choice of protein as well as stir fry noodles. The Drunken Noodles are rumored to be good for preventing hangovers and the Pad Thai is a fan favorite. They also have lesser known rice noodle options like Lad Na and Hu Tieu Xao, neither of which disappoint.

Chiriya’s Thai Cuisine

Family-owned and operated, Chiriya’s is a Victory Drive establishment offering authentic Thai with a Hawaiian twist. Their rice noodle dishes include Pad Thai, Pad Se-Ew and Pad Ke-Mow. They also have a signature noodle dish called Chiriya’s Special Noodles that combines egg noodles with stir-fried veggies and your choice of protein.

Flying Monk Noodle Bar

Flying Monk Noodle Bar

Part of the Ele and The Chef restaurant group, Flying Monk Noodle Bar boasts mouthwatering noodle dishes from various countries across the Asian continent. They have well-known noodle soups like pho and ramen as well as exotic options like Cambodia’s Angkor Wat and the Cantonese Tao Dumpling Soup. From rice and flour noodles to potato and yakisoba, the noodle options at Flying Monk are plenty.

Pacci Italian Kitchen

Whether pasta counts as noodles is debatable, but for the sake of inclusion, we couldn’t overlook Italy. Pacci is an Italian kitchen and bar located in the Kimpton Brice Hotel. Their dinner menu includes palate-pleasing pasta plates like their Sweet Potato Gnocchi, Georgia Shrimp Scampi and Tortellini Salsiccia Italiana. If you love Italian cuisine with its saucy pasta dishes, Pacci is the place for you.

PJ’s Thai Corner

PJ’s Thai Corner is another excellent option for noodles. They offer quite a few noodle dishes that you may not find elsewhere like their Tom Yum, Mama Pad Kee Mao Ta Lay and Racha Rad Nah. They also serve Boat Noodle Soup, which is the most famous noodle soup in all of Thailand. Be sure to give it a try!
