Chris Jericho's Fozzy returns with a performance at Victory North

Fozzy, a heavy metal band fronted by professional wrestler Chris Jericho are bringing their “Save the World Tour” to Victory North on Fri., Oct 8.

According to their bio, Fozzy has been about “hard work, dedication, and delivering great rock n’ roll to their devoted fans worldwide; reminding them that music is all about invoking dirty, sweaty jubilation and doing it loudly.”

Originally starting out as a cover band, Fozzy was formed in Atlanta by Rich Ward, guitarist and front man of the rap metal band Stuck Mojo, and professional wrestler Chris Jericho in 1999.

With the existence of hundreds of other cover bands, Ward and Jericho decided to differentiate themselves by developing a backstory about how Fozzy came to be. Their backstory stated that Fozzy was an early 80s metal band who wrote a long list of classic tunes, then languished in Japan for 20 years because they’d signed a bad record deal.

Releasing their self-titled album in 2000, “Fozzy” consisted mostly of cover songs of 80s rock bands: Dio, Twisted Sister, and Judas Priest.

The last two songs on the album were, however, original songs. It was then that Fozzy decided to drop the backstory and take themselves more seriously by writing original music.

Since their debut album, Fozzy has continuously evolved their sound and they have a total of seven full-length albums in their music catalogue. One of their more well-known hits “Judas” topped out at number five on the Mainstream Rock chart in 2017.

Their most recent single “Sane” was released in May 2021.

In addition to touring solo, Fozzy has shared the stage with well-known rock bands such as Metallica, KISS, Avenged Sevenfold, Drowning Pool, and Buckcherry.

With special guests Black Satellite, Seven Year Witch, and the Lonely Ones, doors to the show will open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $23. For more information or to purchase tickets visit eventbrite and search for the band.
